Do the traffic control cameras record video. I am thinking in the instance of an accident, it would be useful to know that you could potentially retrieve the video record.

If a red light violations occurs, the accident should be caught on video and stills. The vendor had several examples of a red light violation and resulting accident was captured.

Per Brian Moen, Transportation Manager:

To clarify, the traffic control cameras that are installed at some intersections for traffic monitoring purposes do not record.

In the post above, Chief Renshaw was referring to the capabilities of cameras used for red light violation purposes, though none have been installed. City Council has not approved the use of Red Light cameras. A proposal to install red light cameras may be on a council agenda sometime within the next couple months.
